Darmstadt, January 28, 2025 – Yesterday, a groundbreaking project was inaugurated on the Lichtwiesen campus of TU Darmstadt: “Radgeber” offers the public free e-cargo bikes for loan. As an innovative collaborative project, TU Darmstadt, DELTA, HEAG, Heinerbike, and Green Mobility Solutions (with Book-n-Park) are working closely together to take another step towards the mobility of the future – the goal of “Radgeber” is to conserve and protect resources through free participation in sustainable mobility.
"Radgeber" is so groundbreaking because it combines forward-looking planning with real-world implementation: The "Urban Sharing Models" sub-project of DELTA (Darmstadt Energy Lab for Applied Technologies) is realizing one of the world's most modern mobility hubs on the Lichtwiesen campus in collaboration with TU Darmstadt. All inner-city modes of transport are interconnected to ensure quick transfers and emission reductions. In addition to integration into the public transport network (HEAG) and the flexibly usable Lichtwiese parking garage (managed with Book-n-Park), this also includes a continuously expanding portfolio of bicycle services. "Radgeber," with its digitally controlled access and booking system, allows users to rent an e-cargo bike from Heinerbike around the clock, enabling them to run small errands in an environmentally friendly way. Our experience from the Bike+Ride facilities of NAH.sh also proved invaluable. All those involved were enthusiastic about the concept and its implementation, including TU Chancellor Dr. Lommel and HEAG board member Dr. Hoschek even took a cheerful spin on the e-cargo bikes – you can see more of this in our small picture gallery below:
