Darmstadt, August 22nd, 2023 – The TU Darmstadt is now opening the barriers to its multi-storey car park on the Lichtwiese to the public. The university can provide parking spaces that it does not need at the moment and for specific periods of time as needed. Another highlight: For the first time, users can also reserve and pay for their parking space online in a Darmstadt multi-storey car park and open the driveway with their own smartphone. This is made possible by Book-n-Park, the digital parking space control system from the Darmstadt-based company Green Mobility Solutions (GMS). As announced by the TU Darmstadt, there will be no public parking spaces at the side of the road on the TUD campus Lichtwiese due to extensive renaturation measures. That is why the TUD multi-storey car park on Eugen-Kogon-Strasse has been open to everyone since mid-July. Residents, students and visitors benefit from the opening of the car park and pay €2.50 per day. In addition to the pay station, the multi-storey car park can now also be reserved online via Book-n-Park, paid for and opened with your own smartphone.
Whether company, school or government car parks: In many places, popular parking space is regularly available. The home office trend or holiday periods increase the changing needs and capacities. "We believe that sharing existing parking space in places with high parking pressure is a forward-looking solution - for both parking space providers and parking space users," says Torsten Uhlig, Managing Director of Green Mobility Solutions GmbH. "Parking space is used more efficiently, which in turn reduces the search for parking spaces and protects the environment in the long term."
Parking lot operators can define prices and free booking periods themselves via the Book-n-Park dashboard. Book-n-Park parking brackets can also be used to charging stations for electric cars online.
